Passover Dinner
A note from Chef Jeff:
Passover commemorates the Biblical story of Exodus—where God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The holiday incorporates themes of family, remembrance of Jewish history, social justice and freedom, of springtime and a Jewish homeland.
In my family, our Seder dinner is typically held on the first night of Passover. Our extended family is big - so big that we can’t fit in anyone’s home, so we rent the community room in the temple. It is a blend of religious rituals, food and storytelling. We remember my Grandfather and his brothers who escaped Nazi Germany and came to the United States. We remember those who weren’t as lucky. There are long tables filled with brisket, kugel, latkes, salads and matzo ball soup. Everyone takes turns reading from the Haggadah - a book that’s read during the Seder that tells the story of Passover. It is a celebration that I remember fondly, and since living in Minnesota, one that I have missed, and so now, we’d like to share it with you.
